The instruction below will explain how to export the contacts of your address book from Mozilla Thunderbird for importing into your Subscriber list. - Open the Mozilla Thunderbird email client and click on the Address Book icon at the top.
- Select Tools>Export.
- At the bottom of the explorer window, change the Save as type option to Comma Separated (*.csv).
- Enter a file name for this file such as subscriber_export.
- Change the save location to a folder on your hard drive that you can easily find later. You can save this file on your Desktop if you like by pressing the Desktop icon the left side of the window.
- Press Save to save the file. Then close the Address Book window
- Locate the file that you just saved and open this file with your spreadsheet application such as Microsoft Excel or Open Office.
- While opening, if you are prompted to enter the import option, just press OK to continue. The default options should be fine.
- Right click on the first row, just to the left of the very first cell in your table. Then select Insert or Insert Rows, depending on your program. This will insert a new row at the top of your list. The column names as they come from Mozilla Thunderbird (left) as the correspond to the IGotYourEmail subscriber columns (right) are as follows:
- First Name : First Name
- Last Name : Last Name
- Display Name : First Name (in place of above)
- Nickname : First Name (in place of above)
- Email Address : Email Address
- Additional Email Address : NA
- Work Phone : Phone Number (in place of above)
- Home Phone : Phone Number (in place of above)
- Fax Number : Fax Number
- Pager Number : NA
- Mobile Number : NA
- Address : Address
- Address line 2 : NA (part of address)
- City : City
- State : State
- Zip : Zip/Postal Code
- Country : Country
- Work Address : NA
- Work Address line 2 : NA
- Work City : NA
- Work State : NA
- Work Zip : NA
- Work Country : NA
- Title : NA
- Department : NA
- Organization : NA
- Work Website : NA
- Website : NA
Do not enter any duplicate column names. Instead select which column of the same name that you want to use, and use that one as the data to be imported. NA means that this column name is not applicable. The mailer column names are defaults which you may have changed for you account. - Once you have entered in the column names for those columns that you want to import leaving all others blank, save this file by selecting File>Save. This will save over your existing CSV file. And this file is now ready for importing.
